Frames & Gilding
We specialize in the conservation and restoration of 11th-21st century frames and gilded objects including items covered with silver, gold, or metal leaf. To maintain the integrity of such pieces, restorers first stabilize the piece by repairing its structure. Once repaired, the conservators then work on recasting or carving missing pieces to fit the original work. The delicate gold leaf application can then commence after the structural integrity and foundation have been restored. Additional carving, gilding, toning, and painting bring these pieces back to life.
